In the new Meischlgasse urban quarter in Vienna's 23rd district, a municipal housing complex with a total of 203 subsidized apartments is being built – a joint project with Ablinger, Vedral & Partner, who are responsible for the northern section. Our southern section comprises 105 apartments, a space for the neighborhood service Wohnpartner, and a two-story underground parking garage.

The centerpiece of the design is the concept of the "Orto familiare" – a communal garden serving as a vibrant meeting place for all generations. Horizontal and vertical greening is integrated throughout the entire project: planted rooftops with urban gardens and green facades, together with a landscaped courtyard, create a pleasant microclimate and foster a sense of community. The complex also includes common rooms, a workshop, playgrounds, a gym, and a neighborhood café on the ground floor.

For energy supply, the project relies on an intelligent interplay of local resources: heating and cooling are generated on-site via geothermal probes, photovoltaics, and solar thermal energy and distributed throughout the quarter via a shared network. This creates a sustainable energy supply that benefits all residents of the neighborhood and completely replaces fossil fuels.
