Along the Linke Wienzeile, a complex with mixed use (residential, hotel, and office spaces) was to be developed on a wasteland that has been vacant for many years and extends over the width of a Wilhelminian style block of buildings. Its differentiated height design is a response to the urban planning conditions of the surrounding area. The structure, which follows the slightly curved course of the road, closes the frontline of the buildings towards the Wiental, thus creating a formally serene square wall for Bruno-Pittermann-Platz, which is located opposite the underground station. The recess of the ground floor provides a covered forecourt for the grocery store or the entrance zone of the projected office building situated at the Stiegergasse.
The implied tower motif which forms an elevation at the corner to Storchengasse is thus taking up a characteristic element of the neighbouring Wilhelminian style buildings and highlights this area, that is particularly frequented by pedestrians on their way to or from the underground.
