In a residential development at Ketzergasse 96 in southern Vienna, urban living meets the qualities of a village neighbourhood. On a roughly 3,500 m² lot in Vienna-Siebenhirten, we are designing 38 homes for DWK – Die Wohnkompanie: 20 apartments and 18 terraced houses.
Facing the street, a three-storey building closes off the development and accommodates a commercial unit on the ground floor. A passageway leads through to the car-free courtyard at the rear, where the houses and their private gardens are arranged around a shared green space. The clear separation between private gardens and communal pathways defines the character of the development. Timber facades and varied roof forms reinforce the village-like atmosphere and are deliberately designed to blend into the established character of the neighbourhood.
All apartments and houses have private outdoor spaces – balconies, loggias, terraces or gardens. The project is being built in timber construction to passive house standard, with rooftop photovoltaics and an air source heat pump providing a climate-efficient energy supply.
