Along the Linke Wienzeile, a complex with mixed use (residential, hotel, and office spaces) was to be developed on a wasteland that has been vacant for many years and extends over the width of a Wilhelminian style block of buildings.
The residential home refers in its volume and design to the much narrower street concept of Storchengasse and gradually leads the eye to the lower construction height of the adjacent school building. A six-meter wide passage between the school and the residential home/hostel offers a view at the interior of the block, whose attractive open space therefore also becomes visible from and within the street. Despite the fact that the building is in its entirety built on a substructure, the courtyard, which is open to the north, was designed as an urban landscape with a forestry character, which, in combination with the schoolyard, forms a green grove extending over the entire interior part of the block.
