With its stunning view over Schönbrunn Palace, the Gloriette is among the most popular tourist attractions in Austria. By means of a porch clearly identifiable and yet harmonically melting into the existing structure, the entrance area was innovatively put in the limelight. The part of the porch that reaches right into the café area is totally made of glass, which enables the visitor to visually capture the room in its entirety immediately upon entering the building and offers an open view of the Gloriette’s ceiling decoration. The inside walls of the porch are covered with milled tendrils, which mirror the ornamental patterns of the original building’s decoration. This relief is additionally accentuated by the use of indirect lighting.
