Vienna Housing Research

The goal of this study is to document the changes in residential building in Vienna over the past 20 years. The main focus of this treatment lies in the changes that have occurred since the introduction of builders’ architectural competitions (Bauträgerwettbewerbe) in 1995; from this time on a general increase in the quality of publicly funded residential buildings could be observed. In this context, the influence of the 1996 amendment to the building code, which led to several modifications regarding the required rooms contained in an apartment, was also taken into consideration. 32 Projects were selected and analyzed according to identical aspects.
